New Video: IMAN (@imanmusicuk) - Naive

IMAN
NAIVE

'Naive' is the brand new single from London based singer/songwriter IMAN

In the past she has written with ED SHEERAN as well as working and touring with RUDIMENTAL all the while working on her own material

The video to the lastest track has just dropped and the simple but very effective visuals compliment the track completely.

The vocalist co-directed and edited the clip too which was a first for her. Speaking of the experience IMAN says ''This was my first attempt at properly co-directing and co-editing anything. I wasn't really after any storyline; I wanted it to be very simple and focus on capturing the movement of the song.

"Seeing as my previous video for "Golden" hardly showed my face, I felt like for this one I'd show myself, and I'm really happy with how it came out. Moving forward, I'm definitely going to be directing more of my videos. As an artist, the creative part doesn't have to stop at just making the song, and being involved with bringing "Naïve" to life through film is something I found pretty rewarding.''

New Album: MYA (@MissMYA) - Smoove Jones

MYA

SMOOVE JONES

With a recent resurgence in the popularity of 90's R&B, it's good to see one of the era's best known stars back with new music in 2016.

Mýa Marie Harrison aka MYA first appeared on the scene in 1998 but it wasn't really until 2000 that the UK took notice when the classic single 'Case Of The Ex' became a top 3 hit.

She was also later featured on the worldwide #1 smash 'Moulin Rouge' cover version of LABELLE's 'Lady Marmalade' together with PINK, CHRISTINA AGUILERA and LIL KIM

Along the way MYA has also acted appearing in big budget Hollywood movies, including the big screen version of the musical 'Chicago' as well as more recently in 2009 appearing on 'Dancing With The Stars'

Now 18 years on from the release of her debut single, she's back to her first love, music.

'Smoove Jones' with it's themes of love was, appropriately enough, released on Valentine's Day this year. It sees the vocalist returning to her roots and influences. In a recent radio interview MYA said, "I chose Smoove Jones as the title because it best described the laid back, smooth essence and approach to this project.". It's also said that she was given the title as a nickname in the studio by friend and fellow artist Cliff Lewis

Her first full album in 5 years, the album is released on MYA's own Planet 9 label

Running like a radio show, the all new set has a classic and familiar sound with many of the tracks referencing soul greats from years gone by, with old school influences from the 70's & 80's.

The incredible sweet vocals on display are still as strong as ever throughout the album. Stand out tracks include the hot 'Hold On' featuring Maryland rapper PHIL ADE and sexy slow jam 'Team You'

Does this mean we will get to see MYA performing in the UK again soon? Although as yet nothing is planned, with the return of the likes of BRANDY and JOJO to our shores in 2016 we can only hope. Watch this space.

You can listen to the album now in it's entirety on Spotify and is available to buy on itunes as well as physical copies from MYA's website below

New Music: MISSDEFIANT (@MissDefiant) - 133T

MISSDEFIANT

133T

MISSDEFIANT are new pop duo about to make their name in the music world with their latest release '133T'

Formed just under a year ago the pair, made up of Emily Rose Adams and Jordan Cather, both have a pedigree in the business that you might not expect. Emily is classically trained in opera as well as being a part time actress, while Jordan has been a model and dancer with the likes of Charli XCX and Years & Years.

Having written together since they met, they have also collaborated with producer Mike Tournier, something of a pioneer in electronic dance music since the late 80's having previously been in bands Fluke and Syntax as well as remixing work from The Rolling Stones, Bjork, Smashing Pumpkins, New Order and many more.

Their combined work has lead to the new single '133T', a pop dance track with strong anthemic qualities (think Icona Pop meets The Saturdays) but most importantly for the girls, it attempts to set out a strong anti-drugs message to those who “get in with the hype” and the glamorisation of drug culture. It might be easy to miss some of this on the original version so MISSDEFIANT have also recorded an acoustic version where you can really listen to the lyrical content.

Check out clips of both versions below
