New Music: ALEXANDRA BURKE - New Rules EP

It's been a little quiet on the music side lately from ALEXANDRA BURKE, 
but that's all about to change.

Following her departure from RCA records and her new management deal with prestigious US company KWL, the X-Factor winner has just unleashed a brand new 6 track EP entitled 
'New Rules'.

The EP does exactly what it says on the tin and shows a whole new more sophisticated sound to her music. It also features a guest appearance from rapper and friend WRETCH 32 (on the sultry 'Seduce You')

Launched on August 29th, online viewers (and a select few in the studio *including me) were able to watch an exclusive live performance of tracks from the EP, as well as a few fan favourites.

Other new tracks include the dubwise reggae track 'Bounty Hunter' (featuring cameos from her mum & dad) and the stunning ballad 'Try' (co-written by East London singer/songwriter SPARK)

Also featured is a beautiful cover of a COLDPLAY classic, the epic 'Fix You'. Watch an exclusive video of her studio performance here

 



Possibly the standout track is 'Day Dream' (which also has a little nod to one of her heroes MICHAEL JACKSON's 'Lady In My Life'), a dramatic and deeply personal song about a very public break up (are you listening Jermaine??) that lyrically leaves you in no doubt about her feelings. 



Described as a gift to her fans, the EP serves as a taster of what we can hopefully expect on her upcoming third album. #NewRules is available FREE here

New Music: IZZY BIZU - White Tiger

'White Tiger' is the latest track and video to be released by IZZY BIZU.

The 19 year old South Londoner is fast becoming one of the most talked about names of the moment in the world of new music.

Taken from her forthcoming 'Cool Beanz' EP, a 7 track all acoustic affair, this track showcases her unique talent as well a clearly referencing some those that inspired her, from ELLA FITZGERALD to AMY WINEHOUSE & ADELE. 'White Tiger' has also recently gained Radio 1 airplay from both ZANE LOW & EDITH BOWMAN

New Music: TONI BRAXTON & BABYFACE - Hurt You

If you know anything about R&B from the late 80's and early 90's, then you will know the names of TONI BRAXTON & BABYFACE. Now these two icons of the genre are back and working together for their first every duet album 'LOVE, MARRIAGE & DIVORCE'

KENNY 'BABYFACE' EDMONDS (to give him his full moniker) has had solo success as an artist but is probably more widely known as a writer and producer, having been involved in hits for MARIAH CAREY, TLC, BOYZ II MEN, BOBBY BROWN, MADONNA, WHITNEY HOUSTON, MICHAEL JACKSON and an endless list of others including many of TONI's biggest own hits such as 'Breathe Again', 'Another Sad Love Song' & 'You're Making Me High' 

TONI BRAXTON was one of the best selling female artists of the 90's. Following a run of unfortunate personal problems (including ill health & bankruptcy) most recently returned to the spotlight via reality show 'BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES' and despite announcing her retirement from the music industry seems to have made an about turn with a string of successful shows in the US and now this new recording.

The bittersweet 'Hurt You' is the first single from the album and has already impacted on the Billboard chart. 

The album also herald's the pair's arrival at Motown records. 

 'Love, Marriage, Divorce' will be available December 3

Having already unleashed the massive duet  'Q.U.E.E.N' with ERYKAH BADU, 
JANELLE MONÁE is back with another soulful collaboration from what is promising to be her most exciting album yet, 'The Electric Lady'

'PrimeTime' features one of the hottest male R&B talents around, MIGUEL, and (much like the recent MARSHA AMBROSIUS / NE-YO duet) is a smooth, downtempo jam with heavy PRINCE influences.

The London singer/songwriter brings us the other side of summer. A very cool, laid back soul track with a real old school flavour that gets in embedded in your brain and goes 'on and on'. It follows up her recent cover of the 60's classic 'Groovin' and is very much in the same vein. 

The single is released on September 15th and KADIJA will be playing a few live dates to support the release including a launch party on September 17th at Apartment 58 on central London.

MARSHA AMBROSIUS featuring NE-YO - Without You 

A much anticipated release from the Liverpool born singer/songwriter who has been based in the US since 2000. 'Without You' is taken from her forthcoming second album 'Friends & Lovers', the follow up to 2011's US #1 R&B album 'Late Nights & Early Mornings'

The new track is a duet with soul man NE-YO and is a PRINCE inspired pure 'quiet storm' style slow jam.

While garage music currently seems to be enjoying a renaissance it's only right that one of it's originators makes a comeback. ARTFUL DODGER had a string of hits at the turn of the decade (making a star of CRAIG DAVID along the way) and becoming one of the the genre's biggest acts.

This timely reworked version of their 2000 hit, originally titled 'Please Don't Turn Me On' with male vocals from LIFFORD, 'No I Turn You On' has now been remade and features ZOE KYPRI and has now been remixed by the currently very hot DISCLOSURE, who make so secret of the fact that they were heavily influenced and inspired by the group.

New Video: VV BROWN - The Apple

VV BROWN is back to offer us another bite of her forthcoming album 'SAMSON'

'The Apple' is the second single to be taken from the new long player, released on her own label, YOY Records, and comes hot on the heels of previous single 'Samson & Delilah'. The track highlights her new more electronic dance sound.

The video serves as part two of a short film that will feature more music from the album and will also be available as part of the deluxe version of the album

VV has also taken the unusual step of recording 'The Apple' in French, as a kind of thank you to the market that has served her well. 'Shark In The Water', her biggest hit to date, sold over 1 million copies across The Channel.

New Video: BEVERLEY KNIGHT - 'Queen Of The Night' (Excerpt) from The Bodyguard Musical

We all know her as the Queen of UK soul but BEVERLEY KNIGHT is now officially 'The Queen Of The Night' too.

Ahead of her arrival to star as RACHEL MARRON in the West End version THE BODYGUARD, the official website has just released this (all too short) clip of our Bev performing one of the many signature songs from WHITNEY HOUSTON's classic soundtrack.

 There's was really never any doubt that she would do it justice, but she really rocks the track, originally written by WHITNEY together with L.A REID & BABYFACE.

BEVERLEY takes on the role from September 9th at London's ADELPHI THEATRE.

New RIHANNA Covers: URBAN VOICES COLLECTIVE + ELLE SMITH with LEO SOULRHYMAZ

Covers of RIHANNA songs come along about as often as she releases new singles (that's pretty much everyday then) but it's always good to hear versions that do something a little different and take the song somewhere new. Both these new videos do just that.

First up are URBAN VOICES COLLECTIVE, a choir of talented vocalist who are probably best know for their appearance backing a variety of megastar artists at the 2012 Olympic closing ceremony. Founded by KARL WILLETT (also know as a fashion stylist to the stars), the group have performed with with the likes of COLDPLAY, PALOMA FAITH, TAKE THAT, MUSE and many more. 

It was their appearance at the games that brought them in contact with DAVID ARNOLD. The Grammy award winning composer and arranger (known for his work with BJORK, kd lang and on LITTLE BRITAIN & the three BOND movies) decided to work with UVC to create three tracks, the first of which can be seen here, their own unique take on 'Russian Roulette'. 

There's no denying the power of their performance on this track and we look forward to hearing further music from the session.

The second cover comes from a duo who are less well known but no less talented. 

Taking on Ri-Ri's more recent hit duet 'Stay' here is ELLE SMITH.

The German born, Buckinghamshire based singer is joined by producer and vocalist LEO SOULRHYMAZ who takes on MIKKY EKKO's part of the track.

For me they actually bring a more soulful feel to the song and have just filmed this new video to accompany the track.

New Music: BEVERLEY ELY - War EP (Free Download) + Unrecognizable video

War is the hotly anticipated debut EP from BEVERLEY ELY.

The Essex-based singer and songwriter has taken around three years to finally put together the 6 tracks found here, but it was well worth the wait. 

Her powerhouse vocals are showcased well throughout the EP with comparisons already being drawn to that of EMELI SANDÉ or fellow Essex girl JESSIE J, musically BEVERLEY's sound has an added electronic edge and a big production that backs up her R&B roots mixed with a deeply personal lyrical content.
