New Video: TEXAS - The Conversation + Sharleen's Epic fall

One of the biggest bands of the 90's are back.

TEXAS had their first hit single 'I Don't Want A Lover' in 1989 and went on to have a string of hits throughout the 90's and early 2000's until the band took a haitus

Now, 8 years on from their last album, the group fronted by vocalist SHARLEEN SPITERI have gone back into the studio to record new album 'The Conversation'

The title track is also the new single and the video was filmed in Paris

However during the filming of the video, SHARLEEN had a bit of a mishap as she ran around a street corner and ended up almost eating the pavement. She was rushed to hospital but fortunately she did not suffer any permanent damage. The whole thing was caught on film in a sort of 'You've Been Framed' moment.  

The new album is released on May 20th

New Cover: JESSIE WARE - Love Thy Will Be Done (MARTIKA cover)

The fact that JESSIE WARE is inspired by 80's & 90's music is no secret so it was no surprise when she took to Soundcloud to post this great cover.

'Love Thy Will Be Done' was a 1991 hit for US Latino pop star MARTIKA taken from her second album 'Martika's Kitchen' and was co-written and produced for her by PRINCE

The singer, who's debut album has just been released in the US, Tweeted 'I am a huge fan of this Prince written Martika song, so I covered it' *Fair Enough!

Music News: STOOSHE album cover revealed

STOOSHE finally unveil the cover of their debut album.

'London With The Lights On' is finally for release on May 27th and will be preceded by the single 'Slip'  

It will be version two of the album after the original version, which was due for release last November, was scrapped.

The album is set to contain all previous single, minus their cover of T.L.C's 'Waterfalls' which was not generally well received.

New Video: ALICIA KEYS & MAXWELL - Fire We Make

ALICIA KEYS doesn't do that many duets, so when she does, they're usually pretty special.

'Fire We Make' is the latest track to be taken from her current album 'Girl On Fire' and is a duet with smooth soul man MAXWELL

The video was filmed in New Orleans and is set around the early 50's, showing the two 

vocalists getting a little steamy separately before finally meeting at the end.

'The Last Time I Saw Richard' was recorded by legendary singer/songwriter JONI MITCHELL and was originally on her 1971 classic album 'Blue'

One of R&B'S hottest stars CIARA is back.

'Body Party' is the latest from the Texan singer and the sexy video features cameos from LUDACRIS, TRINIDAD JAME$ and current partner (and also the song's co-writer) FUTURE HENDRIX with whom she shares acting duties in the clip.

The track has the flavour of a retro 90's R&B slow jam, even down to the cheeky reference to GHOST TOWN DJ's 1996 hit 'My Boo''. Spot the 'similarity' below

New Video: VINCE KIDD featuring VANESSA WHITE - The Zoo

While we are tuning in to the latest set of auditionees getting the chairs spinning on this year's series of The Voice, one of last year's finalist is back with something new.

VINCE KIDD has been working pretty much non stop since finishing in 4th place in the show, including his own headline tour and releasing his debut single 'Sick Love' late last year and now he returns with a new track and video. 

'The Zoo' taken from the forthcoming EP of the same name.....and this time he's brought along a friend.

VANESSA WHITE, best know as a member of one of the UK's biggest girlbands' THE SATURDAYS, is a long time friend of VINCE's and he obviously took no time persuading her to add her hot vocals to the track.

VANESSA also jumped at the chance to appear in the video which features her with a totally different look, perfectly fitting in with the wild antics going on throughout the clip.

New Music: DISCLOSURE featuring ELIZA DOOLITTLE - You & Me (UPDATE with video)

DISCLOSURE return with their latest single and it's yet another collaboration.

Following on from their hit singles 'Latch' with SAM SMITH and 'White Noise' with ALUNAGEORGE, this time round the electronic dance duo (consisting of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence) have enlisted the talents of ELIZA DOOLITTLE on vocal duties for 'You & Me'.

The track has an almost old school garage feel before heading into familiar house territory, all complimented by the 'Pack Up' hitmaker's sweet tones.

ELIZA herself is due to release new solo material later this Summer, meanwhile the DISCLOSURE album 'Settle', which features all 3 singles, is released through PMR Records / Island Records on June 3rd.

UPDATE: The video has just been released too, which does not feature ELIZA DOOLITTLE but DOES feature a big dildo :/

'Enough Now' is a slice of funky soul from Nottingham's HARLEIGHBLU.

The track is part of the Black Gold EP, a 4 track vinyl 12" released especially for Record Store Day on April 20th (via Tru Thoughts Records) and appropriately enough the video was shot in a record shop.

The EP also includes tracks by Alice Russell, Hot 8 Brass Band & Natural Self

New Video: RAPHAELLA - Idiot (Roof Top Sessions)

Singer/songwriter RAPHAELLA issues this unique performance video of the title track from her recently released debut EP.

The footage, shot (as the title suggest) on a rooftop in Stockholm, Sweden also features fellow artist ANDREAS MOE on guitar duties, supporting RAPHAELLA's keyboard playing and exquisite vocals.

'Party In The Stars' is the first official video from new artist MILA FALLS and it ticks all those boxes. New Music: ELSIE - Your Loving Arms

All too often you hear classic pop and rock tracks sampled, remixed and generally messed about with in an attempt to turn them into dance track and more often than not they fail miserably.

What is less common is for a classic dance track to go the other way and be transformed into a cool pop rock track, however this is exactly what has happened with 'Your Loving Arms', the new single from ELSIE.

The Liverpudlian has taken the song, the 1995 debut solo hit for BILLIE RAY MARTIN, one time vocalist of electronic dance group ELECTRIBE 101.

ELSIE's version, which has already gained playlist status on BBC RADIO 2, gives the track a slow piano intro building into a thumping out & out anthemic rock groove which showcases her stunning vocal ability.

New Video: JACKIE D WILLIAMS - Surface Of My Heart

You want a new video with a lot of heart, well you've come to the right place. The new clip for from Oxford's JACKIE D WILLIAMS has just that. 

The Black & White video for 'Surface Of My Heart', directed by the guys at Reload Sessions, features a straight to camera performance from the slightly battered and bruised singer and ends with his heart LITERALLY in his hand.

Not his ACTUALLY heart of course, that would be impossible. JACKIE, who has just finished supporting fellow soul boy BLUEY ROBINSON on his recent tour, recounted the back story to the making of the video.

Apparently he wanted the video to be more authentic so went and bought two pigs hearts from the local butchers. He put them in his bag, then went to catch the tube to the video shoot. 

However, during his journey his bag fell over and unbeknownst to him, on arrival at the studio he opened his bag to find only ONE heart remained in the bag. 

So, the moral of the story is, if you happen to be travelling on the underground this week, just be careful where you leave YOUR heart!

New (-ish) Music: NATE JAMES - Restored (The Story So Far)

NATE JAMES is probably one of THE unsung heroes of UK soul music of the last ten year.

Having launched onto the music scene in 2005 with airplay hits like 'Universal' & 'The Message'

 

The singer/songwriter went on to have success across Europe and even Japan, achieving award nominations including nods at the MOBOs.

Although not really seen in the mainstream spotlight since, NATE went on to release 3 albums, worked on a string of big name collaborations and formed electro pop band SUGASMAK! (and the afro went too!)

However it's looking like 2013 is going to be a BIG year for the Suffolk man. He will soon be seen on BBC TV's THE VOICE and (although as yet unconfirmed) there's every chance he will progress beyond the 'blind audition' round.

Ahead of this, NATE has issued a brand new compilation, basically a best of entitled 'Restored (The Story So Far)'. The album, which features the previously mentioned singles, popular album tracks and cover versions (of originals by the likes of LAURYN HILL and HUE & CRY) 




The 12 track collection was released yesterday (April 14th) and has already placed highly on itunes R&B chart.

As we await his TV performance, this is the perfect introduction for those who know little of this homegrown talent (but soon will!)

The phenomenom of 2012 is back and this time PSY is now a 'Gentleman'....apparently.

In his new video, the king of 'Gangnam Style' has the now obligatory array of "sexy ladies" and of course there is yet another dance routine that you KNOW will be recreated at ever club, bar, party & wedding disco for the next few months.

However, some of his antic are even more questionable and you could say a little childish this time round (although not necessarily suitable for children), in fact anything BUT Gentlemanly!
