New Video: LAURA MVULA - That's Alright

LAURA MVULA releases the third single from her debut album 'Sing To The Moon'

'That's Alright' is another uptempo, gospel and African inspired track in a similar vein to her previous top 40 hit 'Green Garden' and Laura is quoted as saying it's the only song of her's that her husband likes! *maybe something to do with the hook line 'Who made you the centre of the universe' ?

The video is stylish but surreal affair set in the surroundings of a stately home and sees the singer once again working a few moves.

Laura will be playing several festivals this summer and it has just been announced that she will be playing the main pyramid stage at this years Glastonbury.

With the successful return of JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, there's been a lot of talk and comparrison to the music and sound of ROBIN THICKE. Well he is also returning to the music scene and it seems like he is the one bringing sexy back!

Not only does new video 'Blurred Lines' feature PHARRELL WILLIAMS & rapper T.I (both themselves former JT collaborators) but the clip features all three joined by an array of topless models.

The vocalist is quoted as saying "My whole point of the video was to be provocative and show a sense of humor and to not take nudity seriously as we do in America sometimes," Thicke added. "A woman's body is the most beautiful thing on the planet. The Greeks used to sculpt that stuff."

Music News: ALEXANDRA BURKE to perform 'Lady Sings The Blues' live

It may seem like former X Factor winner ALEXANDRA BURKE has been a little quiet on the music front for the last year. However she has not only been busy working on her third album but has taken time to work on a secret project that is close to her heart.

'Lady Sings The Blues' was the 1972 biopic based on the life of legendary jazz singer BILLIE HOLIDAY. The movie starred DIANA ROSS, her first acting role, in the title role. It is this movie and it's soundtrack that has always been a favourite of ALEXANDRA's and has lead to her creating a unique live show based around it's classic music.

thatgrapejuice.net reports that the show will be exclusively performed live at London's Royal Albert Hall from 4th - 8th of June. Tickets are available from tomorrow, 27th March via their website www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/

New Music: EMELI SANDÉ & RICK SMITH - Here It Comes

'Here It Comes' is the first brand new music of 2013 from EMELI SANDÉ

Taken from the soundtrack of DANNY BOYLE's new psychological heist movie 'TRANCE', the track is a collaboration with UNDERWORLD's RICK SMITH, both of whom famously featured in BOYLE's epic 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

The song that starts almost accapella and builds into a huge choral epic features in one of the movie's most explosive scenes.

New Video: MISHA B - Here's To Everything

MISHA B is back with her brand new single, 'Here's To Everything'.

Undoubtedly still one of the most unique artists to ever emerge from X Factor, the Mancunian looks to continue her run of top 20 hits, following the success of 'Home Run' & 'Do You Think Of Me'.

'Here's To Everything' was also previewed on her recent 'Knock Knock' mixtape, but the full version comes with a spectacular new video.

Built around the riff from late Motown star Teena Marie's 'Ooh la la la' (later also recreated by the Fugees on their own 'Fu gee La'), MISHA's track is a full throttled drum & bass fueled, big beat epic.

The video also doesn't hold back and sees the lady herself looking fierce as ever as she is exposed to the elements in it's two major main scenes involving a whole lot of water and fire!

Check it out here

The single is released on April 28th and can be pre-ordered on itunes

BEYONCÉ is back, in no uncertain terms, and is letting everyone know about it on this new track which has just appeared on her Soundcloud.

Cover: JADE ELLIS - I Need

Without doubt one of the best voice on the 2012 series of the X FACTOR, JADE ELLIS' exit from the competition was far too early.

However, she wasn't gonna let a little thing like that hold her back and has slowly been writing and producing her own material over the last few months.

As we wait patiently to hear what's to come, JADE has filmed this unique acoustic version of MAVERICK SABRE's 'I Need', the song which wowed the judges in her original audition.

Her voice and husky tone still sounds as beautiful as ever as you can hear below

New Music: MKS (Mutya Keisha Siobhan) - Lay Down In Swimming Pools

Mutya Keisha Siobhan, the artists formally known as Sugababes 1.0, have been reasonably quiet musically since announcing their re-union and new name of MKS but the girls have been hard at work in the studio, both in the UK and the US.

Currently working with the DEV HYNES, the man responsible for the recent SOLANGÉ KNOWLES E.P and his own work as LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION, the girls took time to put their spin on this reworked version of KENDRICK LEMAR's recent big tune 'Swimming Pools'

Renamed 'Lay Down In Swimming Pools', the three girls vocals and harmonies are very much back on point. So much so that Dev sneakily decided to post the track on his Soundcloud page and here's the result....

New Video: LEANNE MITCHELL - If I Knew Then (Live In London)

With BBC's THE VOICE set to return to our screens in the next few weeks, many have been asking what happened to last year's winner?

While many of last year's runners up have been making and releasing music, 2012 champ LEANNE MITCHELL has been relatively quiet....until now

Admittedly it's been tough to keep the huge vocals under wraps but finally we can see some of the fruits of her labour of the last year locked away in the studio.

This video for 'If I Knew Then' was filmed as live in the studio, with just piano accompaniment, and showcases THAT voice.

The track is taken from her self titled album due for release on May 27th.

New Album: LAURA MVULA-Sing To The Moon

In the last few years the music industry has become a haven for UK female artists doing their own thing in their own way. With AMY WINEHOUSE as a role model, ADELE carried the torch on to the likes of EMELI SANDÉ who have proved that a sound that may not instantly appear mainstream can become just that.

LAURA MVULA fits nicely onto that list and has relatively quickly become one of THE names of the lips of those in the know......providing they can pronounce her name properly *it's Ma-Voo-La.

The Birmingham songstress made the higher reaches of most 'tips for 2013' polls, being narrowly beaten to the top but gaining more than a little recognition along the way. However, until now, many have yet to actually hear much of her music.

So finally her debut album is here, on the back of just two previous single, 'She' and 'Green Garden'. Both releases have gained a fair amount of airplay with little promotion (as well a few high profile fans, including a tweet from a certain Mr. Russell Crowe).

'Sing To The Moon' seems very much an old fashioned type of album that takes you on a journey through Laura's life, inspirations and influences. Many have already compared her to one of her musical heroes, NINA SIMONE. Whilst actually sounding nothing like her, there are elements of the legendary performer' style that are echoed in her sound. (Although her self confessed love for 90's R&B girl group ETERNAL is quite as obvious)

Predominately it is the voice that gets you and reels you in every time. Most of the self penned tracks starting gently, then building into a unique wall of sound that is both captivating and hypnotic. Many cuts are relatively sparse (for example the title track or opener 'Like The Morning Dew'), with instrumentation, much of it played by solely by Laura, kept to a minimum and incorporating large sections of acapella and layered choir vocals. What also cannot be overlooked is the African influence on her sound, an authenticity even PAUL SIMON could not hope to replicate.

Credit should also go to STEVE BROWN who co-wrote and produced the album (and who's track record with RUMER speaks for itself). His touch has clearly helped bring high quality production values to the project.

Having already seen most of the album performed live, it was interesting to see how some of these songs would transfer to their studio versions. Happily there is little difference. 'Sing To The Moon' is a captivating collection of songs instantly brighten your day.

Check out one of the album's highlights, captured live in London last year, the closing track 'Diamond'

'Sing To The Moon' is out now via RCA VICTOR
